Parks and Recreation Tax Up for Renewal in June 9 Special Election
The City of Clinton has announced a Special Election scheduled for June 9, 2026, in which registered Clinton residents will vote on the renewal of the 2% Parks and Recreation Tax. The tax was first approved by voters in 2022 and is collected at local restaurants throughout the city, with every dollar dedicated exclusively to parks and recreation facilities and improvements.
Since its passage in 2022 the tax has generated approximately $5.4 million in revenue, funding a series of significant capital improvements and new facility construction across Clinton’s park system including new facilities, long overdue renovations, and infrastructure upgrades that have made a meaningful difference for residents across the city.
Every time a Clinton resident or visitor dines at a local restaurant, a small portion of their check goes directly toward improving the parks and recreation facilities that serve the entire community. Every bite builds.
