Therapeutic Recreation Holds Vet to Vet Cafe

September 13, 2024

Therapeutic Recreation is excited to announce that the upcoming Vet to Vet Café on September 16th will feature a special guest speaker, Yolanda Davis, who will be discussing the VA Foster Program. This program offers Veterans an alternative to traditional nursing home care by providing a home-like setting where they can receive personalized care and attention.

The VA Foster Program is designed for Veterans who require a high level of care but prefer to live in a non-institutional environment. Medical Foster Homes are private residences where trained caregivers provide 24/7 care and supervision. Veterans receive assistance with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, all within the comfort and familiarity of a home setting.

Yolanda Davis will delve into how this program works, who qualifies, and the benefits it offers to both Veterans and caregivers. She will also provide insights into how the VA ensures that caregivers are well-trained and equipped to meet the unique needs of each Veteran. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about a compassionate and innovative care option that prioritizes the dignity and well-being of our Veterans.

We encourage all Veterans, caregivers, and community members to join us for this informative session. Whether you are considering care options for yourself or a loved one, or simply want to learn more about the services available through the VA, this discussion will provide valuable information and resources.
