Pinehaven Bridge Reconstruction Update

September 30, 2025
The Pinehaven Bridge reconstruction is making steady progress! Crews are on track to finish installing the new pilings this week — a major milestone that brings the project to just over one-third complete.
👉 What’s a piling?
Pilings are long, heavy columns (often steel or concrete) driven deep into the ground beneath the bridge. They act as the foundation that supports the weight of the bridge and all the traffic crossing it. This step takes time and precision because it’s the backbone of the bridge’s safety and stability for decades to come.
⏳ Looking Ahead: If progress continues on schedule, the soft target for reopening is early summer of 2026.
We know the detour is inconvenient and adds time to your commute, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption. But ensuring the bridge is built on a rock-solid foundation is not something we can rush. These improvements will provide a safer, stronger bridge designed to withstand heavy traffic and future flooding events.
Your patience now means safer travel for years to come. Thank you for hanging in there with us as we move closer to reopening Pinehaven Bridge!
