November 5 Board of Aldermen Meeting Overview
At the November 5, 2024, board meeting, Marlee Price, Director of Communications and Tourism, presented the Department Head Report. Price touched on several projects she has currently been working on, including the new “Work for Clinton” website landing page. She also highlighted her recent professional development trip to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Veneto Experience Lab. The immersive lab gave Price a new perspective on her role in communications and how she intends to inform and engage the community. Price also announced the date for the lighting of the city Christmas tree, which will be December 2, 2024, beginning at 6 pm in front of City Hall.

Director of Community Development Roy Edwards presented various discussion/action items, including the approval of architectural review for Pedro’s Tacos, Quick Stop, and Nix Pediatrics Dentistry, as well as a preliminary plat for Nix Harkins subdivision and conditional use for Clinton resident John Deady.
The Board of Aldermen also voted to reduce the property cleaning fines presented by Edwards on behalf of Alan McDonald, and removed the appeal for interpretation by Shaun Blakeney from the agenda.
During the review of a rezoning request from R-1 (single-family residential) to MU (Mixed Use) for a project by Kirkland Development, the board accepted a petition from Kentwood residents requiring a super-majority vote to approve the rezoning. With only 4 out of 7 votes in favor, the rezoning request failed, leaving the area zoned R-1.
