Community leaders, elected officials, and guests gathered at Mississippi Christian University on August 21 for the City of Clinton’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, a morning centered on community, fellowship, reflection, and prayer.

Mayor Will Purdie welcomed those in attendance and reflected on the importance of coming together as a community. The program included the presentation of colors by the Clinton Public School District Coast Guard JROTC, remarks from Mississippi Christian University President Dr. Blake Thompson, and an opening prayer led by Dr. Greg Belser, Senior Pastor of Morrison Heights Baptist Church.

The City of Clinton was honored to welcome U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith as the keynote speaker for the morning. Senator Hyde-Smith shared with those gathered about the experiences, values, and faith that have shaped her life and public service. Her remarks offered a meaningful perspective on leadership, courage, and the importance of remaining grounded in faith while serving others.

Judge Kenny Lewis concluded the morning with a closing prayer, bringing the program to a fitting close.

The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast provided an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday responsibilities and gather around a shared commitment to service and community. The morning offered time to reflect on the privilege and responsibility of serving others, strengthen the relationships that connect Clinton, and pray for continued wisdom and guidance for those entrusted with leadership.
