March of the Mayors: Clinton Collects Canned Green Beans
The City of Clinton is proud to participate in the March of the Mayors, a statewide initiative bringing communities together to fight hunger across Mississippi. As part of this effort, Clinton residents are invited to donate canned green beans now through February 27 at Clinton City Hall, 300 Jefferson Street.
March of the Mayors unites more than 55 mayors, five regions, and hundreds of volunteers across the state to collect shelf-stable food and transform it into thousands of food boxes for families in need. What makes this initiative especially impactful is that donations remain in the communities that make them possible, directly supporting local food pantries and feeding partners. Sponsored by Extra Table, the metro-area collections will benefit a wide network of organizations serving families throughout central Mississippi.
This initiative combines the spirit of community service with the energy of celebration — part food drive, part fundraiser, and part Mississippi’s largest food box packing event. Once collections from participating cities are complete, volunteers will come together for a massive Food Box Packing Party at 9:00 a.m. on March 4 at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, where donated items will be assembled into food boxes for distribution to partner pantries.
From simple donations to large-scale community action, March of the Mayors shows what is possible when cities work together with a shared purpose. The City of Clinton encourages residents, businesses, and community groups to participate by donating canned green beans at City Hall and helping make a meaningful impact for families in need across our region.
