Milepost 89 Returns May 15 with Live Jazz at the Clinton Visitor Center
One of Clinton’s longtime musical traditions returns Friday, May 15, as Milepost 89 kicks off another season of live music at the Clinton Visitor Center.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the New Bourbon Street Jazz Band, a Mississippi favorite known for bringing traditional New Orleans jazz to audiences across the region for decades.
Admission is at least 89 cents.
Originally formed through the New Bourbon Street Jazz Society of Jackson, the band has entertained audiences throughout Mississippi with performances featuring classic jazz standards and New Orleans favorites. Audience members can expect songs such as “What a Wonderful World,” “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon,” “Struttin’ with Some Barbeque,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
Many of the band’s members have performed together for more than 30 years. The group includes Randy Dickerson on trumpet, Bob Pilcher on trombone, Dr. James Sclater on clarinet, Todd Bobo on tenor sax, Ron Welch on banjo, Bruce Carter on drums, Steve Kincaid on bass, Craig Tucker on piano, and Jeff Reynolds on guitar.
The New Bourbon Street Jazz Band also performs regularly at Hal & Mal’s in Jackson on the first Thursday of each month and is available for private events.
Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy an evening of music, community, and the return of a favorite Clinton tradition at the Clinton Visitor Center.
