City of Clinton Announces Sewer Line Replacement Project on Trailwood Drive and Hollyberry Drive
The City of Clinton Public Works Department will begin a sewer line replacement project on Monday, July 13, along Trailwood Drive and Hollyberry Drive. The project is expected to take approximately 1½ to 2 weeks, weather permitting.
During construction, motorists should expect specific partial road closures and intermittent full road closures in the project area. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and use the recommended detour via Spanish Oak Drive and Pebble Lane whenever possible to avoid delays.
The project is necessary to replace a section of deteriorated concrete sewer line that has collapsed. The damaged pipe has restricted wastewater flow, creating the potential for sewer backups and overflows. City officials believe the deterioration resulted from long-term exposure to hydrogen sulfide gas, which can form sulfuric acid and corrode concrete sewer infrastructure over time.
Replacing the failed section will restore reliable wastewater service, improve system performance, and help prevent additional infrastructure failures.
“The City is committed to maintaining reliable infrastructure for our residents,” said Public Works Director Phillip Lilley. “While we understand this project will create temporary traffic disruptions, these repairs are necessary to protect the integrity of our sewer system and prevent more significant issues in the future.”
The City of Clinton appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while crews complete these essential infrastructure improvements. Motorists traveling through the area are reminded to use caution, follow posted traffic control devices, and watch for construction personnel.
