Clinton Unveils Mississippi’s Largest Sports Lighting Project at Traceway Park
During the 35th Annual Red, White & Blue Fest on July 4th, the City of Clinton proudly unveiled a transformative upgrade to Traceway Park — the installation of state-of-the-art LED sports lighting, marking the largest sports lighting project in the state of Mississippi.
This major investment in Clinton’s premier recreational facility is part of the city’s continued commitment to enhancing quality of life, safety, and sustainability for residents and visitors alike.
The new LED system replaces the outdated lighting with cutting-edge technology that delivers powerful, focused illumination without the glare or spillage associated with traditional lights. The result is dramatically improved visibility for athletes, spectators, and staff, while significantly reducing light pollution for surrounding neighborhoods.
Key benefits of the LED lighting system include:
-
✅ Improved safety for players and visitors during evening events
-
✅ Reduced light pollution, preserving the nighttime sky and minimizing disruption to nearby homes
-
✅ Increased energy efficiency and cost savings for the city
-
✅ Enhanced experiences for tournaments, local leagues, and community events
Before-and-after photos showcase the dramatic difference the new lighting has made. What was once uneven and dim is now evenly lit, sharp, and purposefully directed to the field — keeping the focus where it belongs.
This project aligns with Clinton’s broader efforts to modernize infrastructure, support recreation, and build a more sustainable future.
Traceway Park is home to dozens of youth sports leagues, regional tournaments, and city-wide events throughout the year. With this lighting upgrade, the park is better equipped than ever to serve as a hub for sports, community, and connection — day or night.
