Regardless of the minimal rain we have been experiencing, the City of Clinton and Hinds County remain in a burn ban. A burn ban means no outdoor burning of ANY KIND. This time of year, with fallen leaves and cooler temperatures, you may be tempted to burn your brush or gather around a fire pit; however, with extremely dry weather conditions, even the smallest fires can burn out of control very quickly. Burning during a burn ban will result in a fine. Not to mention spreading the resources of the fire department with a situation that is entirely avoidable. The burn ban will be lifted once we have sustained enough rain to make a controlled burn safe.
