Adopt a Charger installs 12 EVCS at parks and visitor destinations through an Entergy-funded initiative

July 23, 2025

The City of Clinton is proud to announce the installation of 12 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at five public locations, made possible through Adopt a Charger’s Charge Up! Mississippi initiative and Entergy Mississippi. These Level 2 – 240-volt stations support the city’s growing focus on sustainability, tourism, and community accessibility.

The new EV charging stations are now live at the following Clinton locations:
The Clinton Visitor Center
The Olde Towne Depot
Brighton Park
Pickleball Complex at Kids Towne Park
Traceway Park

The Charge Up! Mississippi initiative aims to not only enable zero-emission travel but also to educate the public on the benefits of electric vehicles. By installing chargers at community hubs and popular destinations, Adopt a Charger fosters organic interaction between EV drivers and curious residents, driving awareness and adoption.

“When people see an EV parked and plugged in at places they frequent, it sparks a conversation,” said Kitty Adams, Executive Director of Adopt a Charger. “That natural exchange is what helps build public trust in cleaner, smarter transportation.”

Tesla Motors donated their Universal Connector for the project, which supports both North American Charging Standard and J-1772 connectors—ensuring compatibility with all major plug-in vehicles on the market. The Level 2 chargers offer up to 25 miles of range per hour, perfect for drivers enjoying Clinton’s parks, trails, downtown boutiques, or events at Traceway Park.

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside the City of Clinton on this meaningful project,” Adams added. “Their dedication to quality of life, environmental stewardship, and forward-thinking public service makes Clinton a model for other cities in Mississippi.”

“Entergy Mississippi is proud to support projects that promote sustainable communities and encourage tourism across our service area. Partnering with Adopt-a-Charger on Charge Up! Mississippi also helps further our commitment to strengthen our communities for the future,” said Tison Reno, product and service development manager at Entergy Mississippi.

The EV stations in Clinton are part of a larger regional initiative that includes installations at Hinds Community College, the Mississippi Children’s Museum, and sites throughout the Jackson metro.

Adopt a Charger has partnered with Lavallee Electrical to complete the installation and provide ongoing maintenance of the city’s new EV charging stations.

Founded and headquartered in Clinton, Lavallee Electrical brings not only technical expertise to the table but also a deep investment in the community it calls home. The company has a longstanding tradition of giving back, regularly supporting local events and citywide initiatives through sponsorships and volunteer efforts.

“Partnering with Lavallee Electrical made this project even more special,” said Kitty Adams, Executive Director of Adopt a Charger. “They’re not just installing infrastructure—they’re investing in their hometown. Their commitment to quality work and community pride made them a perfect fit for this initiative.”

By choosing a Clinton-based contractor, the City is keeping economic development and job support local, furthering the impact of the EV charging project beyond sustainability and into direct community benefit.
