A Farewell from the Mayor: Phil Fisher Reflects on More Than a Decade of Service to Clinton

June 23, 2025

As he enters his final week in office, Mayor Phil Fisher reflects not on personal accomplishments but on the power of partnership, persistence, and a community that came together time and again to move Clinton forward.

First elected in 2013, Mayor Fisher has led the City of Clinton through seasons of growth and challenge, transformation and triumph. His years in office have seen critical improvements in infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and quality of life. But ask him what he’s proudest of, and the answer is simple: the people who made it all happen.

From his first day in office to his last, Mayor Fisher has remained steadfast in his belief that no one makes change alone. True progress, he often says, doesn’t come from a single person at the podium — it comes from everyone at the table.

Together we can do anything” has long been his motto — not as a campaign slogan, but as a personal conviction. It has guided every decision, every initiative, and every challenge overcome. Whether working alongside city staff, aldermen, local businesses, or dedicated residents, Mayor Fisher has never viewed leadership as a solo act. Instead, he has embraced collaboration, knowing that lasting change only comes when people join forces for a greater good.

He would be the first to say the accomplishments of the last 12 years are not his. They are the community’s. The result of conversations, consensus-building, and a willingness to keep showing up and working together — even when the path was difficult, and the progress slow.

As Clinton prepares to welcome new leadership, the city pauses to honor the man who has given so much of himself in service. His legacy will not only be measured in capital improvements and policy achievements, but in the trust he built, the unity he fostered, and the example he set.

From the entire Clinton community — thank you, Mayor Fisher. Thank you for your steadfast leadership, your vision, and your heart for this city. While your chapter as mayor may be closing, your impact will be felt for generations. Thank you for reminding us that no one builds a city alone — and for proving, time and again, that together, we can do anything.
