City of Clinton and Clinton Public Schools Team Up for STEM Learning with Egg Drop Challenge
It was a perfect day for science, teamwork, and community partnership as the Clinton Fire Department partnered with Clinton Junior High School’s 7th grade STEM class for their annual Egg Drop Challenge this week.
The Egg Drop Challenge is a favorite hands-on learning project where students are tasked with engineering protective contraptions to keep a raw egg intact when dropped from significant heights. Thanks to the assistance of the Clinton Fire Department, students got a unique opportunity to test their designs from the top of a fully extended ladder truck, adding an extra layer of excitement — and realism — to the project.
City leaders emphasized the importance of partnerships like these between the City of Clinton and the Clinton Public School District, noting that collaboration strengthens community ties and enhances educational opportunities for local students.
“We’re proud to support our schools and help create moments where education meets everyday life,” said Mayor Phil Fisher. “It’s about showing students that learning isn’t limited to the classroom — and it’s also a great chance for our firefighters to connect with the young people in our community.”
The City of Clinton and Clinton Public Schools have a long history of working hand-in-hand on initiatives that benefit students, families, and residents alike — from public safety education programs to recreational opportunities and citywide events.
As the students cheered on each drop, celebrated unbroken eggs, and learned from those that didn’t make it, it was clear this annual tradition is about more than physics and engineering — it’s about a city coming together to inspire the next generation.
