Clintonian artist Sam Beibers presents “Trace Elements,” a series of watercolor paintings inspired by the Natchez Trace, at the Clinton Visitor Center. The exhibit runs until Saturday, December 14, with viewing hours: Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Holiday hours may vary.
Sam’s artwork features flowers, trees, insects, birds, turtles, and tractor-track puddles found along the Natchez Trace. The show includes over twenty-five pieces showcasing his vibrant use of color and exceptional light and shadow techniques in watercolors.
“I hope visitors are reminded of nature’s beauty and wildness,” says Sam. “The Natchez Trace offers many ways to explore its richness.”
Originally from Memphis and raised in Walls, Mississippi, Sam developed a deep connection with nature encouraged by his parents’ support for creative endeavors.
Having lived in Clinton for over forty years, he has worked as an illustrator for Mississippi Educational Television; art director at the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Conservation; full-time freelancer; creative director for JBHM Education Group; and exhibits designer at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
The Clinton Visitor Center is located at 1300 Pinehaven Road near Milepost 89 on the Natchez Trace Parkway. For more details, call 601-924-2221.
