Book Talk, and Wizard of Oz, and Halloween! Oh my!

An exciting week of events has been planned for residents and visitors of all ages!

From history enthusiasts and movie buffs to treat seekers and pet lovers, everyone can find something to enjoy in Clinton.


Thursday, October 24: Book Talk & HOOT

Book Talk at the Clinton Visitor Center
You’re invited to a special Book Talk featuring two captivating stories of Clinton’s past written by historian Walter Howell. Dr. Ron Howard will present Town and Gown: The Saga of Clinton and Mississippi College, a historical look at the relationship between the town and the college over 200 years. Tom Henderson will share Fallen Comrade: A Story of the Korean War, recounting the story of three young Marines from Clinton and their experiences during the war. This free event will include a Q&A session and book signings afterward.

Time: 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Program starts at 6:00 PM)

The Haunting of Old Towne (HOOT)
After the Book Talk, enjoy Clinton’s beloved Halloween event, HOOT in Lion’s Club Park. Trick-or-treaters will be treated to a night full of spooky fun, including costume contests (ages 16 and under), carnival games, bounce houses, and loads of candy. It’s a night of family-friendly fun you won’t want to miss!

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Friday, October 25: Dinner & a Movie – The Wizard of Oz

Follow the red brick roads of Olde Towne to Jefferson Street for a magical evening under the stars with a showing of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz. Enjoy themed activities from local merchants, take photos with Dorothy and her friends, and savor delicious food from Triple J’s Pizza food truck. Don’t miss the final outdoor movie of the season!

Saturday, October 26: Howl-o-Ween at the Clinton Bark Park

Get ready for some furry fun at Howl-o-Ween, a Halloween event for dog lovers and their four-legged friends. Dress up your pet and yourself for a costume contest with categories for small, medium, and large dogs, as well as people/pet combos. There will be prizes for the best costumes, and doggie trick-or-treats will be available for all participants.
