Clinton Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy Accepting Applications

It’s time for the next session of the Clinton Police Department‘s Citizens’ Police Academy on April 22 – 27, 2024! The class will be from 1800 (6pm) – 2100 (9pm) Monday through Thursday, Patrol Ride-A-Longs on Friday (Time scheduled individually by each participant), and 0800 (8am) – 1500 (3pm) on Saturday.
The Citizens’ Police Academy is designed to give participants an in-depth look at how the Clinton Police operate. The goals of the Citizens’ Police Academy are:
- To educate and inform the community about the Clinton Police Department;
- To promote the “Community-Oriented” Philosophy;
- To provide a forum for police and community interaction;
- To work together to create a safer city.
Participants will be introduced to the Clinton Police Department Command Staff and learn about:
- The History of the Clinton Police Department
- Dispatch Center & Operations
- Jail and Booking Operations
- Clinton Police Administration
- “Becoming a Clinton Police Officer”
- Crime Prevention & Awareness
- Patrol Division
- School Resource Officer Unit
- Crisis Negotiations Team
- Warrants Division
- Criminal Investigations Division
- Narcotics Unit
- Boondocks Firearms Training Academy & Facilities
- Firearms Safety & Training
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron
- Special Weapons And Tactics Team
- Explosive Ordinance Unit
The course is free of charge and open to anyone 18 years of age & older. Participation requires a background check by the department.
